Education Minister opens Coastal Lakes College

Western Australian Minister for Education and Training, the Hon Sue Ellery MLC visited Peet’s Lakelands Estate on Friday 15 February to officially open the new public secondary school, Coastal Lakes College.
The Minister was joined at the event by Member for Mandurah the Hon David Templeman MLA, Shadow Minister for Education and Training the Hon Donna Faragher MLC and City of Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams.
Guests were welcomed by Coastal Lakes College students and foundation Principal Kya Graves before the special opening ceremony, which included a welcome to country performed by one of the College’s new students.
The ceremony was followed by a guided tour of the state-of-the-art facilities which include a performing arts centre, commercial kitchen, vast gymnasium and an inclusive hub for education support students including a hydrotherapy pool.
The Lakelands community was heavily involved during the planning stages for Coastal Lakes College resulting in strong connections already being established between the school and the community, local organisations and the City of Mandurah.
Coastal Lakes College joins Lakelands Primary School and Mandurah Baptist College as the third school within Lakelands Estate.
Lakelands Estate welcomes first public secondary school

With the new school year about to begin, Peet's Lakelands Estate in Western Australia will welcome its first public secondary school.
Coastal Lakes College will open with approximately 220 year 7 students, with years 8 - 12 being introduced over the coming years.
The school features a performing arts centre with film and television studios, a commercial kitchen plus therapy rooms and hydrotherapy pool for education support students.
The school will be officially opened by the Hon Sue Ellery, WA’s Education and Training Minister, on 15 February 2019.
