Googong’s $6 million clubhouse unveiled

Plans for Googong’s $6 million state-of-the-art recreation hub have been released along with news that the facility will be open for business at the same time as the township’s first residents arrive.

Project Director Mark Attiwill says the architecturally designed Club Googong is planned to open in around October next year to ensure that the first residents have a high quality leisure facility, including café and a general store, just minutes from their doorstep.

“Planning for Club Googong has been underway for some time now and we’ve just appointed a builder,” Mr Attiwill says. “We expect to start construction in January.

“Everything is being designed to ensure the club is ready and operating so that when Googong’s first residents arrive, they will have free access to a beautiful, peaceful leisure area as well as basic services and amenities just a short distance from their homes.”

Mr Attiwill says residents will be able to enjoy the facility’s 25 metre indoor heated swimming pool, as well as other amenities including a kids splash deck, tennis courts, gymnasium, café and general store.

He also says that Club Googong is just the first of a number of other recreation amenities which will be built progressively as the township grows.

“Club Googong will showcase some beautiful architectural features,” he says. “The design incorporates quality materials including natural stone, plenty of glass to take advantage of the region’s views and a tumbling water feature which overlooks beautiful Beltana Park.”

Club Googong will be centrally located in Googong's first neighbourhood, near a bus stop and next to a cycleway and Beltana Park. Residents will also enjoy access to Beltana Park's barbeque facilities, children's playground, amphitheatre, pathways, waterways and boardwalks.

“Not only are they terrific community facilities that would be a rarity in other similar-scale developments, but the quality of the design and the amenities they will deliver to residents will be second to none,” says Mr Attiwill.

Construction of Club Googong is scheduled to begin in January 2013 and is expected to be completed by October.
