ANOTHER INDUSTRY AWARD FOR GOOGONG
Monday, 10 December, 2012On Friday 7 December at the Consult Australia awards in Brisbane, Googong Township received yet another “gong” to complement its already long list of industry recognised awards. This time, it wasn’t the development itself which took the accolades, but rather, the standout relationship between Brown Consulting, and their client Googong Township Pty Ltd which won the Client Focus category.
Brown Consulting’s role in the development has been, and continues to be, significant. As the lead civil engineering consultant, Brown has acted as the engineering master planner for (initially) 1,200 lots including stormwater master planning. The firm also acts as the Infrastructure Design Manager (IDM) for the township’s entire infrastructure including water, roads and gas.
Tony Connell, Brown Consulting’s Project Director at Googong, said the project will ultimately deliver around 6,000 lots and will include provision of non-potable water to each dwelling. “This is a positive step in sustainability for new urban development projects,” said Mr Connell.
“Given the greenfield nature of the site, we worked closely with Googong Township to provide advice and designs which would minimise infrastructure costs, maximise yield, address sustainability issues and ensure the product met client and community expectations,” he said.
Mr Connell commented that the working relationship with Googong Township Pty Ltd was one of the most positive and rewarding throughout his 30 year engineering career.
“Working with a great client has made a positive difference to the success of Googong. You can’t help but put your heart and soul into the job,” said Mr Connell.
