An exciting program run by the Swan Suburbs Rugby Union Football Club is providing opportunities for kids from three years of age up to 12 years to train and play rugby for free.

The Club’s Community Liaison Officer, Jodie French, said the Club believes that every child should have the opportunity to participate in local sports and be part of a team – irrespective of their background or circumstance.

“When you add up the game fees, insurance and uniform costs it can make playing sport prohibitive for some,” she explained.

“We saw a need in the community for support for families to enable their children to get involved in team sports,” said Jodie. “There are so many advantages to kids being active and being part of a team – we really wanted to provide that opportunity to as many kids as possible in our area.”

“Along with our many volunteers, we rely on support of sponsors like Movida Estate, to get kids involved and help encourage, inspire and motivate them to achieve their personal best.”

The Club currently has more than 100 members, 80 of which are juniors involved in the ‘play for free’ program.

Peet Managing Director Brendan Gore said this is a very worthwhile program, and one which Movida Estate is proud to be partnering with the Swan Suburbs Rugby Club to deliver for the 2018 season.

Swan Suburbs Rugby Union Football Club was formed in 2012 and has a number of junior teams as well as a senior men’s team and a Baby Swans training program for 3 to 5 year olds.

The 2018 rugby season kicked off last week and will run through to September.
