PROJECT UPDATE
August 2020The ultimate stage of the IWC, Stage D, which will increase capacity to service all of Googong Township was approved by Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council under Part 5 of the EP&A Act. Stage D is anticipated to be constructed and handed over in approximately 2024
PROJECT UPDATE
November 2018Construction of the IWC Stage C was completed and handed over to Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council and Icon Water in 2018. It provides water, wastewater and recycled water services for the first 9,400 residents in the Googong township.
PROJECT UPDATE
6 December 2016Construction of Stage 1 of the IWC has been completed and was handed over to Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council and Icon Water in July 2016. It currently provides water, wastewater and recycled water services for the first 3,500 residents in the Googong township. Stage 2 – which will increase capacity to 9,500 people – is currently under construction with works to be completed by the first quarter of 2018.
PROJECT UPDATE
25 February 2015The IWC system progressed significantly during 2014 and included the completion of a permanent drinking water connection and booster pump station. The key activities for 2015 are the ongoing construction, then testing, of the Water Recycling Plant and the second Sewage Pumping Station.
PROJECT STATUS
29 September 2014Construction of the Water Recycling Plant is underway and is expected to be completed by late 2015 (weather permitting).
WATER RECYCLING PLANT - CONSTRUCTION TO START
24 June 2014Construction of the Water Recycling Plant will commence soon and is expected to be operational by the end of 2015 (weather permitting). The water and interim wastewater services for the initial Googong neighbourhoods are now operational.
STAGE A NETWORK (WEST)
14 June 2013Construction of Stage A Network (West) commenced in January 2013. Stage A Network (West) will provide water and wastewater services for an initial 1,900 residents of Googong. Construction of this work has been awarded to Woden Constructions, who are based in Queanbeyan.
The work involves construction of:
- Interim reservoirs for recycled and potable water.
- A sewage pumping station.
- Mains pipework, including recycled water mains, to connect to the first of five neighbourhoods to be built.
- Connection to the stormwater management system.
This stage is due to be completed in December 2013.
STAGE A NETWORK (EAST)
14 June 2013Construction of Stage A Network (East) commenced in April 2013. The contract for this work has been awarded to a local firm, Guideline ACT who are based in Queanbeyan. The work involves construction of:
- A bulk water pumping station.
- A potable water rising main to supply water to the interim and recycled water reservoirs.
- A water meter adjacent to Googong Dam Road at the western end of the works.
This stage is due to be completed in December 2013.
