Day at the Bay attracts a big crowd
More than 300 people turned out in perfect weather to enjoy the second annual Day at the Bay at the Golden Bay Foreshore on the weekend.
The popular event is designed to celebrate youth within the Golden Bay community, teaching skills and techniques for life whilst engaging them in positive community activities. This year there was an array of family fun activities with tie-dying workshops and the chance to paint a car proving to be favourites amongst the kids!
Some faced their fear of heights and took to the high-ropes course whilst others learnt how to service and look after their bikes thanks to the Bike Doctor.
There was outstanding support from local suppliers and businesses including the Singleton Volunteer Bush Fire Brigade, who invited community members to test out the fire sirens and fire hose. Along with the City of Rockingham, the fire brigade also had plenty of helpful information and tips about community safety and how to be disaster prepared.
Coastcare was also on hand, showing how best to plant a sustainable garden with local natives.
Youth mental health foundation, Headspace attracted a crowd with their DJ spinning tracks, and a local face painter also had the kids lining up.
