We are proud to announce that Village Green’s Origami Park and Robert Mcllroy from Saunders Havill has been awarded the Gold Award for Commercial Design - Public Open Space and named as a finalist for the Commercial Landscape Design of the Year at The Australian Institute of Landscape Designers and Managers 2021 Design Awards.
Origami Park sits within the heart of Village Green and features 1.5ha of green space, it includes a playground, fitness and exercise areas, shared walkways, bike paths, water fountains, picnic shelters and an oval with goal posts – something for everyone which is part of the reason it has been so well received by residents, and now award winning.
Judges comments:
There is a good organisation of spaces with well grouped elements. The planting palette fits well with the coastal environment, and the overall design caters to all in the community from a small family gathering to a large community event. It is well-constructed with good design elements. A comprehensive design that would have required extensive communication and consultation to produce the excellent results.
