THE famous golden arches opened its doors in Flagstone this week, paving the way for more than 90 jobs in the region.

Managing director of Peet Brendan Gore welcomed the opening of a McDonald's restaurant at Homestead Drive on Tuesday, December 10.

"McDonald's is giving residents further opportunities to live and work close to home," he said.

"Employment opportunities for the next generation of Flagstonian youth has increased with McDonald's giving students an opportunity to learn new skills and take part in longer-term traineeships.

"This adds to over 550 local jobs already created from early commercial buy-in at Flagstone."

Construction is underway into two major shopping centres set to open in Flagstone next year.

This includes a $55 million Woolworths anchored development with 20 specialty shops and 10 professional suites at 23 Bushman Drive and a Coles supermarket development with nine specialty shops at Homestead Drive.

Mr Gore said there were plenty more exciting developments in store for Flagstone.

"The restaurant joins other state of the art community facilities, including a $3 million water play park - made possible through a partnership between Peet and Logan City Council - launching to the public on Saturday, December 21," he said.

"The water park is part of the $12 million Flagstone Regional Recreation Park, which includes a competition-standard urban skate plaza, one of Queensland's first water play facilities for dogs, and one of its biggest adventure playgrounds, featuring an 11-metre tower."
