Tonsley’s innovation district continues to boast its leading-edge capacity and facilities after introducing the trial of driverless cars within the district for both passengers and freight.
Tonsley will be the testing grounds for the driverless vehicle that aims to assist in the development of a market- ready autonomous delivery vehicle within a year. Aurrigo, the Australian subsidiary of UK driverless shuttle supplier RDM Group, will receive up to $1 million from the Future Mobility Lab to fund the vehicle, which will be utilised by existing businesses at Tonsley.
The Aurrigo autonomous pod will be trialled in the Main Assembly Building of the Tonsley Innovation Precinct from February to June, 2019.
